Building community through movement, culture, and collective power.

The CRayProject creates spaces where movement becomes a catalyst for connection, celebration, and change. Through our annual festivals, cultural gatherings, and artist-centered programs, we amplify Black stories, nurture creativity, and strengthen the bonds between artists and the communities they serve.

Our events and initiatives highlight the brilliance of Black dance—from live performance and creative visuals to professional development and artist support—cultivating a thriving ecosystem where artistry, heritage, and innovation move together.

LONG BEACH COMMUNITY WALK

A community initiative created by BLK Events LA,  hosted a Citywide Community Walk on Saturday, February 1st, 2025, to kick off Black History Month! This initiative celebrated Black culture and supported Black-owned businesses across Los Angeles County. Since April 2024, Black Events LA has held monthly walks to bring communities together in exploring different neighborhoods and highlighting the businesses that make them shine. Past walks have featured Leimert Park, View Park-Windsor Hills, and West Adams, with partners like Hilltop Coffee + Kitchen, Reparations Club, and ORA.

CRayProject, LiBRE, and BLM of Long Beach were invited to join the initiative to host for the city of Long Beach. We took our community members to some of the historical and new Black businesses in the city that included Shades of Afrika, PlayNice, A Slice of Jamaica, Mangiafoli, and more.

The CRayProject is shaping a vibrant and inclusive dance ecosystem in Long Beach and beyond by providing accessible classes, community-centered events, and professional opportunities for dancers at every level. Our work uplifts both non-traditional and emerging professional dancers, giving them the training, exposure, and support needed to step confidently into life-changing opportunities. Through culturally rooted programming and year-round engagement, we serve as a creative anchor for Black and Brown artists—building pathways, expanding access, and empowering the next generation of dancers to thrive.
